COLIN ROTHENBERG (HDip Elect ENG)
After studying Electrical Engineering in South Africa, Colin spent his time working for both the SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) and a private facility (Chroma Television).
Colin emigrated to Australia in 1987. First starting work at Videopak and then progressing to Australian Medical Television where he was chief engineer. In 1992 The OB Group was formed. Initially starting with 4 partners (hence the name), Colin soon became the sole owner of the business.
  The company is now in its 24th year of operation.
With a total of 38 years in broadcasting Colin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the broadcast industry.

2015

The OB Group was acquired by Big Picture Australia. With plans for a large expansion program, the company looks forward to an exciting future.

1992 to 2015

The OB Group

In 1992 the company was formed with 4 partners. By 1994 only Colin was left, and continues to run the business.

Rejoined Videopak

Studio and outside broadcast

 

1989 - 1990

Chief Engineer for Australian Medical Television - full systems design, management and installation

 

1987 - 1989

Emigrated to Australia and worked for an independent facility (Videopak) - Post Production and Outside Broadcast

 

1984 to 1986

Assistant Chief Engineer for a post production facility in Johannesburg

 

1979 - 1983

Won a bursary from the South African Broadcasting Corporation

Studied Electrical Engineering at Wits Technicon (Higher Diploma Electrical Engineering - light current), worked for the South African Broadcasting Corporation - Engineer

1977 - 1978

South African Air force - National Service - Telecommunications. Began studying Electrical Engineering by correspondence

 

Qualifications

Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Wits Technicon - South Africa)

Engineering courses from Sony, Ampex and Grass Valley
